She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture SVŠT and worked in various studios of Slovak architects, until in 1991 she founded her own company, in which she focused mainly on graphic design, designed dozens of logos, including for Lydia Eckhardt and Bepon. In the years 1978 – 1995 she belonged to the sought-after Slovak models.

My Paths to Jazz: Music has always been my companion, but for decades it had to give way to architecture and later to graphic design. However, what you have in your heart cannot be missed… Twelve years ago, I was a guest at a symposium of artists in Patince, where the excellent Hungarian guitarist Tony Pusztai came to play. He heard me sing and my voice enchanted him. We talked until late at night. It was a big boost for me and that’s where it all started. Hours of singing and recognizing one’s own voice followed. I found that I liked singing stories, so I got to know jazz ballads. My very first singing inspiration was Sade, followed by Diana Krall with her album The Girl In The Other Room. Finally a singer who had my range and with whom I could sing! Hours of listening and revelation followed. It’s a never-ending process, I had to reach to the roots: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, later Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Shirley Horn and many others. In the beginning, Slovak jazz musicians Juraj Kalász, Gabriel Jonáš, Marián Ševčík, Paľo Bereza, Eddy Portella helped me a lot. Nes To this day, I also collaborate with guitarist Vlado Minda, with whom we have a specific sound. In 2015 I managed to release my debut album Ingrid Bezak – deep inside. One of the most prominent Slovak pianists, Ondrej Krajňák, and excellent Czech jazzmen, Tomáš Baroš and Radek Němejc, also played a significant role in its realization. The already mentioned Hungarian guitarist Tony Pusztai also joined. The following year, my CD won the ESPRIT Public Award for the best jazz album of 2015 in Slovakia.

The right feeling: It happens when the singer’s “heart and throat” come together. Nothing that is technically correct, that is, a kind of “singing acrobatics”, will achieve this result. One must be clear in one’s head and in one’s heart. If not, people will know right away. Of course, an interesting voice is a great advantage, an accurate ear and rhythm with the necessary prerequisites, and good pronunciation, articulation and proper breathing can be practiced. A feeling singer must have something “worn out” and it doesn’t matter if she is 25 or 50 years old. Life has brought me many events that have been found in my ballads. But as life goes on, so does this. One must, so to speak, keep up with oneself and, above all, be true to oneself…

I’m (and I’m not just) a jazz singer: I’ve been doing graphic design for thirty years, including advertising campaigns and various challenging projects through my own company. So organizing performances and managing in general is no problem for me. In addition to concerts, I am organizing the 7th year of the VocalEase project, where we help beginning jazz singers, many of whom have won awards in the New Faces of Slovak Jazz competition. I would like to record another album. I’m looking for inspiration in contemporary jazz and I’m also looking for myself when it “clinks”. The subsequent process will be very demanding, because I want to move the next CD mainly as a singer

Vyštudovala Fakultu architektúry SVŠT a pracovala v rôznych ateliéroch slovenských architektov, kým si v roku 1991 nezaložila vlastnú firmu, v rámci ktorej sa venovala hlavne grafickému dizajnu, navrhla desiatky log, medzi nimi pre Lýdiu Eckhardt či Bepon. V rokoch 1978 – 1995 patrila k vyhľadávaným slovenským modelkám.

Moje cestičky k jazzu: Hudba bola moja spoločníčka odjakživa, ale na desaťročia musela ustúpiť architektúre a neskôr grafickému dizajnu. Avšak čo má človek v srdci, tomu sa nedá ujsť… Pred dvanástimi rokmi som bola hosťom na sympóziu výtvarníkov v Patinciach, kam prišiel hrať vynikajúci maďarský gitarista Tony Pusztai. Ten ma počul spievať a môj hlas mu učaroval. Rozprávali sme sa do neskorej noci. Bol to pre mňa veľký impulz a tam to celé začalo. Nasledovali hodiny spevu a spoznávania vlastného hlasu. Zistila som, že spievanie príbehov sa mi páči, a tak som spoznala jazzové balady. Moja úplne prvá spevácka inšpirácia bola Sade, nasledovala Diana Krall so svojím albumom The Girl In The Other Room. Konečne speváčka, ktorá mala môj rozsah a s ktorou som si mohla spievať! Nasledovali hodiny počúvania a odhaľovania súvislostí. Je to nikdy nekončiaci proces, musela som siahnuť ku koreňom: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, neskôr Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Shirley Horn a celý rad ďalších. V začiatkoch mi veľmi pomohli slovenskí jazzoví muzikanti Juraj Kalász, Gabriel Jonáš, Marián Ševčík, Paľo Bereza, Eddy Portella… Dodnes spolupracujem aj s gitaristom Vladom Mindom, s ktorým máme špecifický zvuk. V roku 2015 sa mi podarilo vydať debutový album Ingrid Bezak – deep inside. Na jeho realizácii sa významne podieľal aj jeden z najvýraznejších slovenských pianistov Ondrej Krajňák a vynikajúci českí jazzmani Tomáš Baroš a Radek Němejc. Pridal sa aj už spomínaný maďarský gitarista Tony Pusztai. V ďalšom roku moje CD získalo Cenu verejnosti ESPRIT za najlepší jazzový album roka 2015 na Slovensku.

Ten správny feeling: Nastane vtedy, ak sa u speváka spojí „srdce s hrdlom“. Nič, čo je len technicky správne, čiže akási „spevácka akrobacia“, nedosiahne tento výsledok. Človek musí mať jasno v hlave aj v srdci. Ak nie, ľudia to hneď spoznajú. Samozrejme, zaujímavý hlas je veľkou výhodou, presné ucho a rytmus nutnými predpokladmi a dobrá výslovnosť, artikulácia a správne dýchanie sa dajú nacvičiť. Speváčka s feelingom musí mať už niečo „odžité“ a nezáleží na tom, či má 25, alebo 50 rokov. Mne život priniesol nejednu udalosť, ktorá sa našla v mojich baladách. Ale ako život beží, aj toto sa mení. Človek musí takpovediac držať krok sám so sebou a hlavne byť pravdivý k sebe…

Som (a nie som len) jazzová speváčka: Tridsať rokov som robila grafický dizajn, vrátane reklamných kampaní a rôznych náročných projektov cez vlastnú firmu. Takže organizovať si vystúpenia a celkovo sa manažovať mi nerobí žiaden problém. Okrem koncertovania organizujem už 7. ročník projektu VocalEase, kde pomáhame začínajúcim jazzovým spevákom, z ktorých mnohí získali ocenenia v súťaži Nové tváre Slovenského jazzu. Chcela by som nahrať ďalší album. Hľadám inšpiráciu v súčasnom jazze a hľadám aj v sebe, až to „cinkne“. Následný proces bude veľmi náročný, lebo ďalšie CD chcem posunúť hlavne spevácky

The new czech funky formation PUR PUR under direction of czech drummer Filip Zangi has its goal set clearly: bring back the funk to the czech musical scene.
And they does its best. Groovy themes, funky riffs and drops packed to joyful pop-like envelope with the aim to entertain! This is all what you can find in their music. Group is recently active with some parody music (this one called Youtuberka) and also made some remakes of older music (for i.e. Abraxas – Obyčejnej svět).  The group forms two singers Michaela Tomešová, Vlaďka Skalová and Annamaria d’Almeida. The melodic core consists of Imran Musa Zangi on percussion, funky guitarist Ladislav Štefek, bass playing Marek Pach and on drums Filip Zangi. Two dancers of Fantasy Dance Studio Bee and Tom completes the band on the bigger stages.

Czech funky group from Prague consisting of ten young people producing powerful funky music. Thematically they are criticizing political and social situations, mainly in Czech republic. Musically it comes to powerful funk with horn sections, synths and bass – all the stuff we funklovers like. The group cooperated with many czech musicians as well as some internationally renowned musicians.

Group is recently very active doing shows and live concerts in Czech republic and middle Europe.

Electro Deluxe is french nu-jazz group formed in France in 2008. They produce great balanced mix of soulful, jazz and funk based songs all supported by the horns. Very juicy music which is very happy and entertaining.

The group consists of:

Arnaud Renaville – drums, Bertrand Luzignant – trombone, Gaël Cadoux – piano/keyboards, James Copley – american singer,  Jérémie Coke – bass, Thomas Faure – saxophone, programming and Vincent Payen on a trumpet.
